When can enforcement costs be waived?
We will consider waiving enforcement costs where you can prove the penalty was enforced in error. For example:
- penalty notices were sent to an old address on RMS records, despite the RMS being informed of a new address before those notices were sent
- an incorrect address was supplied by the person who nominated you as responsible for the offence
- you were overseas, in prison or hospital for the entire period when the penalty notices were issued.

Note: you should update your address with the RMS within 14 days of moving - either online at the RMS website or contact the RMS.
